AC Gov’t screens employees, visitors via thermal gun

ANGELES CITY – The Angeles City Government will now use a thermal gun to screen all employees and visitors who will enter the premises of the City Hall.

Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. has tasked the frontline officers to man the screening at all entry points starting today, March 13, 2020.

According to Mayor Lazatin, this is the commitment of the local government to fight the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The officers of the City Health Office (CHO) said a thermal gun scanner would determine the temperature of the people if they have a fever, which is one of the symptoms of the COVID-19. Other symptoms include difficulty of breathing, cough, and history of travel.

Temperatures seen higher than 37.8 degrees will be asked to rest for three minutes. If the same temperature is recorded again, the person will be directly escorted to the Puso Center.

“Hindi po magsasawa ang city government na ulit-ulitin ang mga paalala para maiwasan ang coronavirus. Except for the efforts of the city government for such preventive measures, it should always start at home,” the Mayor said.

In addition, he reminded his constituents to avoid public places for the meantime unless urgent. If there is a need to go out, please observe social distancing, he shared.

Lazatin is also asking the help of parents to watch out for their children and keep them indoors.

“In this time of great public health crisis, it is important for us to show unity and compassion for one another as one nation, keep our faith, and avoid spreading fake news,” he said.

To date, there are no cases of COVID-19 in the city.
