ANGELES CITY – Following a strict enforcement of precautionary measures against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the city government began its disinfection protocol in schools and local government offices.

For private schools, Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. is encouraging them to carry out their own disinfection of facilities where they will submit a report to the City Health Office that they complied with Memorandum 468, series of 2020.

He also instructed Executive Asst. IV Reina Manuel to monitor that disinfection protocols would be followed strictly, regularly, and rigorously.

The Mayor furthered that the disinfection process follows the declaration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterete of a state of public health emergency in the country.

However, Lazatin clarified there are no cases of the COVID-19 in the city, but preventive measures are strictly implemented to avoid it.

"We do not have any cases of the COVID-19 here in Angeles. However, we are doing everything we can to strictly prevent it from entering the city because we want all Angeleños to be safe and worry free,” he said.

Prior to the disinfection process, Mayor Lazatin cancelled classes in all levels from 12:00 pm of March 10, 2020 to March 13, 2020 in both private and public schools.

The suspension of classes follows the Department of Health’s announcement that allows Local Government Units (LGUs) to suspend classes in prevention of the COVID-19.

Moreover, Lazatin ordered the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) to set a 24-hour checkpoint in all entrance and exit points of the city, in a drive to monitor potential carriers of the disease.

Aside from this, he also declared a temporary restriction on foreign travelers from China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Japan, Iran, and Italy beginning on March 10, 2020 until further notice.
