ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. ordered all hotels and similar establishments to report all of the foreign travellers from the countries severely hit by Corona virus who come to stay in their establishments beginning on March 10, 2020.
“Beginning tonight, the city will be stricter on the entry of foreign nationals in the city. We have asked for the guidance of Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on this matter,” he said.
Lazatin said the city will have 24/7 hotlines from the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) to receive concerns and reports regarding COVID-19.
The hotlines are as follows: (045) 322 7796 (landline); 0917 851 9581 (globe); and 0998 842 7746 (smart).
In addition, the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO), headed by Colonel Joyce Patrick Sangalang, will strictly monitor the entry of foreign travellers coming from the said countries.
Lazatin implements a temporary restriction on the entry of foreign travellers from China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Japan, Iran, and Italy beginning on March 10, 2020.
He earlier ordered the ACPO to set up a 24-hour checkpoint in the city’s entry and exit points.
In a related development, Lazatin, sent a letter addressed to Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Han Dong-Man, mentioning that this is part of the City Government’s preventive measures against the rising case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“We understand that this temporary restriction could cause inconvenience to Korean nationals who would wish to enter our city, however, we need to take precautionary measures in the face of this highly contagious disease in order to protect not just our local residents but the other Korean nationals who are already residing in Angeles City,” the letter states.
