ANGELES CITY – Following Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr.’s drive to intensify traffic regulations in the city, the Angeles City Traffic Development Office (ACTDO) has recorded a total of P1.757 million in traffic fines collected for the month of February 2020 alone.

According to Lazatin, traffic regulation is one of his primary concerns because it affects overall productivity in the city.

“We would only continue to strengthen our monitoring and regulations because it’s important for us to remove the culture of traffic violations in the city, and to instill order and discipline among drivers,” said Lazatin.

He furthered that traffic regulations are essential to ensure public safety, prevent accidents, and decongest heavy traffic situations.

Based on the report of the ACTDO, a total of P1,373,800 was collected for traffic violations; P336,700 for impounded motor vehicles; and P46,500 for towed motor vehicles.

Among the traffic violations, no helmet garnered the highest number with 2,192 violations. This was followed by outermost lane with 756 violations, and obstruction with 686 violations.

Among the violators, motorcycle drivers were recorded with the most number with 4,167 violations, followed by tricycle and private drivers with 460 and 130 violations, respectively.

It can be recalled that the City Government increased its traffic fines collection by 47.7% during the starts of Lazatin's administration.
