ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr. seeks to provide more free lodging facilities which will accommodate frontline public and private health workers here throughout the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine against the coronavirus (COVID 19).

Lazatin today, March 30, 2020 wrote a letter to Hotels and Restaurants Association of Pampanga (HARP), headed by their President Fatima Ortinada, to allow the City Government to use their members’ hotels as temporary dormitory and quarantine area for healthcare professionals assisting in combatting the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the lodging facilities are for all, regardless if the health worker resides inside or outside the city, as long as he or she works in public and private hospitals here.

Lazatin designated Executive Assistant V Raffy Angeles to coordinate the details with HARP.

“We have assessed that distance, housing, and transportation are part of the struggle of our medical workers in this trying time,” he said.

Furthermore, according to Dr. John Kit, Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) Chief of Clinics and COVID-19 Team Head, even before the community quarantine in entire Luzon, Mayor Lazatin had already established links with hotels near the RLMMC to offer free temporary housing to health care professionals.

“May ginawa si Mayor. Ang initial na ginawa niya may kinausap siya na hotel sa bandang Friendship para maging temporary housing ng mga doctor at nurse natin, lalo na yung mga nanggagaling pa outside the city,” he said.
