ANGELES CITY -- Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. will send P1.5 million and his one month personal salary to help Mindanao earthquake victims.

On Wednesday, November 6, the Angeles City Government thru its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council will pass a resolution authorizing the donation of the P1.5 million to our brothers and sisters in Mindanao, who are affected by the recent strong earthquakes.

The donation will be charged to the five percent reserve of the city's calamity fund amounting to P90,460, 429.75.

Furthermore, Mayor Lazatin has also asked the help of Angeleños to donate in kind to the beneficiaries.

According to him, anyone who wishes to donate immediate needs can drop these off at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Angeles City Hall Compound, Barangay Pulung Maragul here.

"In times of crisis, magtulungan tayong mga Pilipino. No matter how big or small the amount of help is, may it be in kind or prayers, do not despise the needy - instead, extend a helping hand to them. For in helping the needy knows how to honor God," he said.

Although the said resolution will still seek the approval of the City Council, Mayor Lazatin is positive that the council is one with him in this, especially that this is for the social welfare of the victims hit by the earthquake in Mindanao.

Earlier today, Mayor Lazatin has released Memorandum No. 1009, series of 2019, which urges employees here to donate for Mindanao earthquake victims.

Moreover, the City is accepting ready-to-eat food such as easy-open canned goods and instant noodles; drinking water; hygiene kits such as soap, feminine wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, napkin, shampoo; and sleeping mats, pillows, and blankets.

It can be recalled that in October, North Cotabato and Davao Del Sur were severely hit by strong succeeding earthquakes, which led to deaths, injuries and damages to properties.
