P1.8M earmarked for cash, medical aid of sickly seniors

ANGELES CITY – A total of P1.8 million will be distributed by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. to assist in the financial and medical needs of bedridden and sickly senior citizens in 33 barangays.

According to Mayor Lazatin, who personally went house-to-house to distribute the assistance, this is to strengthen the health and productivity among the elderly.

“The City Government wants to recognize their contribution to the society,” he said. “This is just a step to cater their basic needs.”

At the time of writing, the Mayor already visited 13 barangays to check the conditions of the beneficiaries.

In fact, he was accompanied by doctors to examine their medical situations, prescribed medicines, and provided these if available.

According to Mayor, in terms of social services for the elderly, P10 million will be allotted for their pension.

The Mayor is also urging establishments to abide by the City’s policies of providing specific benefits and privileges to the elderly. Furthermore, City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO), Gender and Development (GAD) Office, Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), and City Information Office (CIO) assisted the mayor during the visitations.
