ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has issued Memorandum 336, s-2019 which prohibited smoking in “all areas inside the Angeles City Hall Compound.”

The memorandum stated that designated smoking areas will be identified.

“The City Engineer is hereby instructed to find suitable designated smoking areas, based on the guidelines enumerated in the Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 17, s-2009,” the memorandum stated.

The memorandum supports the CSC circular that calls for a “100 percent Smoke-Free Environment Policy.

The CSC Circular adopted a “100% Smoke Free Policy and Smoking Prohibition” in all areas of government premises, buildings and grounds, except for open spaces designated as smoking areas, in order to ensure a healthy and productive workforce.

The policy also seeks to encourage people to quit smoking and spare other people from exposure to secondhand smoke.

It also stated that violation of the CSC Circular shall be considered a ground for disciplinary action.
