ANGELES CITY -- The local government here has successfully begun the family vaccination of 994 residents in Barangay Virgen Delos Remedios via a mobile bus clinic on Aug. 11.

This after Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. ordered the administration of house-to-house vaccines last Aug. 7, starting in villages with the smallest populations, dubbed as the "Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay" project.

"Bakunado na po ang lahat ng residente ng Barangay Virgen Delos Remedios, pagkatapos nating mailunsad ang kick-off ng Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay ngayong araw," Mayor Lazatin shared.

This was also echoed by Barangay Captain Ronald Diangson, saying the vaccine would safeguard his constituents against the virus, supporting the target herd immunity of Mayor Lazatin in November.

"It was a success. Ang Barangay VDR po ang kauna-unahang barangay na bakunado na po ang lahat ng residente," Diangson said.

"On behalf of my constituents, nagpapasalamat po kami kay Mayor Lazatin at sa lahat ng staff mula sa City Hall na sila mismo po ang bumaba sa aming barangay upang ilapit ang bakuna," he furthered.

Out of the 1,063 residents, according to Diangson, 994 received their first dose of vaccines while the remaining 69 belonging to the priority group already received their vaccines at the inoculation areas in City College of Angeles and Angeles City National High School.

In addition, one Danilo Rodriguez commented on the Facebook post of the City Information Office page: "Great job, vaccination now moved closer to the people."

In the same vein, Gheea Cunanan, also a resident from the barangay wrote on the Facebook page of City Information Office, "Napaka-smooth po ng process, at napakabait pa ng mga nag-a-assist."

Lazatin's Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, also the chief implementer of the city government's vaccination program, shared that the process in the barangay vaccination is same as the on-site registration - from the screening and counseling, vaccination, and post-monitoring.

The deployed mobile bus clinic will park at every street, accommodating six to 10 residents at a time to ensure the observance of safety protocols inside the bus, Calaguas said.

The bus has complete medical equipment and vaccinators and doctors from Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center led by Dr. Froilan Canlas and City Health Office headed by Dr. Verona Guevarra.

"We just allow maximum of 10 residents inside the bus at a time for the observance of social distancing. Right after po na may matapos na, may aakyat po ulit sa bus, and so on," Calaguas explained.

The support staff from Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles and the City Nutrition Office headed by Donatila Guanzon served as ushers to strictly monitor the movement of the residents in and out of the mobile bus clinic.

Alongside is an ambulance with medical responders and nursing staff from the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office led by Rodolfo Simeon.

Prior to their inoculation schedule, Calaguas said vaccination forms were already distributed per household, personally delivered by Mayor Lazatin, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Cabiles, Simeon, and herself.

While conducting house-to-house vaccination, the inoculation sites in the CCA and ACNHS are still operational for walk-ins belonging to the groups of Senior Citizens, Persons with Disabilities, and Pregnant Women.

To date, the city government has hit the 101,114 mark in terms of residents who received the first dose of vaccines, while 60,427 are already fully vaccinated.

The city government will also conduct the 'Sundo Bakuna' tomorrow, Aug. 12 for the residents of Barangays with largest population, starting in Barangay Cutud - deploying six Philippine Rabbit buses and 10 jeepneys to fetch families for vaccination at the CCA from 7AM to 4PM.

It can be recalled that the city government has started conducting door-to-door vaccination to 660 bedridden elderly and 200 PWDs confined to their beds.
