ANGELES CITY - Lea Dizon gamely smiles before the camera, as she promotes a "Gawang Angeleño" product - a Buntal Clutch Bag from Tamayuq, featured at the One Town, One Product (OTOP) shop.

Lea shares she’s very particular with the quality of the product she’s buying. This is why she’s proud to endorse locally-made products, knowing the craftsmanship behind its production.

“Ako kasi binubusisis ko whenever I buy something. Talagang tinitignan ko kung worth it yung quality dun sa presyo. Bilang isang nationalist, I believe in patronizing your own – lalo na kapag

“Gawang Angeleño," hindi ka mapapahiya kasi maganda talaga pagkakagawa,” she said.

Currently the City Assessor, Lea has been working in government for 38 years.

After finishing a degree in Engineering, she immediately secured a job at the Department of Public Works and Highways in Region III. After a few years, she was transferred here in Angeles City, working as a City Assessor.

Both Lea and her husband found their calling in public service, with the latter working in the General Service Office.

Being in the same line of work, Lea and her husband made a pact to keep their personal and professional life separate as much as possible – problems at work were left in the office, while family-related concerns were discussed at home.

Still, Lea admits that one of the advantages of having the same line of work is that she’s able to consult her husband and ask for his advice (and vice versa) on certain matters.

For people considering public service as their potential career, Lea imparts this valuable piece of advice: “ Kung gusto nila magtrabaho sa government, kailangan maging matatag sila. Maging matatag, at matatag din sa paninindigan. Kung gusto nyo umangat, magtrabaho kayo ng maayos at maging masipag kayo. Lastly, yung integridad nila hindi dapat mawala. Dapat sa public service i-maintain nila integrity nila.”
