ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on Friday, October 2, inspected 2,000 units of tablets initially delivered to the city government, which will be distributed to Grades 4 to 12 students in 5 public schools starting on Saturday, October 3.

The city government is set to distribute 55,000 tablets to Grades 4 to 12 students in 53 public schools in the coming days, which will exclusively be used for their online classes this upcoming opening of the new school year on October 5.

Initially, Lazatin procured 48,000 tablets, amounting to P161 million, for Grades 4 to 12 students.

But with the unexpected high volume of enrollees for the coming school year, the city government decided to procure 7,000 additional tablets for 53 public schools.

Each tablet amounts to P3,360, equivalent to P184,800,000 for the 55,000 tablets.

Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas reiterated that the tablets will be used solely for the purpose of education, to better help the students with the transition to the “new normal” way of schooling — which is the utmost priority of Mayor Lazatin.

“Sisikapin ng administrasyong Lazatin na tugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng mga estudyante sa pagsisimula ng klase ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” Calaguas shared.

Also present during Mayor Lazatin’s inspection of the tablets were Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Mayor’s Office Record’s Section Head Jermaine Jam Aguila, Information Communication Technology Division Officer-in-Charge Michael Lising, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer-in-Charge Rudy Simeon.
