Lazatin eyes salary increase of barangay workers

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. will push for the increase of compensation of barangay front liners by 2020 in recognition of their contributions to the City.

In his message during the flag raising ceremony here, Lazatin cited the important roles of Day Care Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Health Workers (BHW), and Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO), in terms of health protection and education promotion.

“Ang mga Day Care workers, BNS, BHW, BSPO ang katulong natin na nagbababa ng programa natin sa edukasyon at kalusugan sa ating mga kabarangay. Kaya dapat lang na mabigyan sila ng pansin ng aking administrasyon,” he said.

“Daragdagan po natin ng additional na P500 kada buwan na sweldo ang mga day care workers, hindi rin po maiiwan ang ating mga Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Barangay Health Workers at Barangay Service Point Officers. Daragdagan din po sila ng P500 na suweldo kada buwan next year,” he stressed.

“This is a way to give priority for those barangay workers who treat their constituents in the grassroots level as a priority,” Lazatin said. "Let us help also help them to uplift their quality of life.”

As proof, apart from the budget allotted for their P500 salary increase every month by 2020, uniforms will also be provided to them.

“Ang aking mensahe po ay simple lang — mula noon hanggang ngayon, ang serbisyong Lazatin puno ng malasakit. Hindi po nagbabago yun,” he said.

The Mayor also thanked them for their help in the free flu vaccination of the elderly.

He also mentioned the efforts of City Health Office (CHO), Gender and Development (GAD)Office, Office for the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

Meanwhile, the Mayor also shared that a P6-million budget will be allocated for the air conditioning units and television sets of 75 day care centers.

“Kung tama po ako, huli silang nabigyan ng airconditioning units noong panahon ng aking ama. At ako naman po noong ako ay Konsehal ay namigay ng ilang tv sets,” he said.
